Can a potato run a marathon?

I will wear a Mr. Potato Head costume and run for Team World Vision in October 14th’s Melbourne Marathon.

Why?  Because;

1.The funds raised are supporting World Vision’s food aid program
    (hence the potato link!)
I’ve seen first-hand both the importance of potato’s as an important diet and economic stable in Africa and the real life-changing impact of the projects of World Vision.

The tax-deductible food aid initiative helps people to work and gain experience in farming while receiving food aid.  The project highlight is to build a dam which will help grow better crops as the biggest threat is drought. Potato’s are a key crop and Mr. Potato Head will bring profile to this.

2. It’s an official attempt at a Guinness World Record!
Currently the Record is set at 4 hr 17 min 38 sec by Englishman, Peter Barlow, at the 2011 Virgin London Marathon. A Guinness World Record adjudicator will be present at the event.  No pressure!

3. It’s Mr. Potato Head’s 60th birthday – and it’s a bit of crazy fun!
I realise I can’t change poverty just by wearing a costume but I’m prepared to go and do something crazy and have a bit of fun to help make a difference.

So how might you be able to help?

 A tax-deductible donation to support World Vision would of course be great. Here’s the link to my Team World Vision fundraising page: http://www.everydayhero.com.au/andrew_mckenzie_1

Give and you shall receive!!
We have 50 Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head’s to give to those who support World Vision - thanks to the good people at Hasbro!
How to get your hands on these tasty little spuds?

Become a spuddy!!  Either;
·         A $100 donation gets one, or
·         A Record Challenge.   Make a donation and then pledge to double it if I break the Record.  (eg. Donate $50 and then pledge to make it $100 if I break the record).

All donations go to World Vision and are issued a tax-deductible receipt.

Running for life!

It's a marathon ... not a sprint!

It took me 3 hours, 23 minutes to run the New York Marathon.
It took them 43 weeks (that's 305 days) to send me the certificate!
